Yesterday, we took our students to shop for their rewards. They are rewarded as they work and get good grades in Rosetta Stone. With Rosetta Stone, they practice and learn new vocabulary, they practice grammar, writing, speaking and listening. Excitement was evident in their faces as we entered the supermarket and as each one of them picked their rewards!
Finally the day has come to deliver our donation to Kodomo (a Japanese word which means " child"). As you recall, our students had been doing a great job with the recollection of plastic lids to donate to this institution. Kodomo is a therapy center for autism.What do they do with the plastic lids? Donations of such are sold to help sponsor the therapy of an autistic child who's parents aren't able to pay for it.

The most awaited reward and field trip for our deserving students finally has come! Thirty of our students and some teacher-chaperones spent one Friday night at a halloween event in Ventura Park! You can imagine the excitement of our students as they get off the bus that night! Several months ago we had invited our students to collect plastic lids to help Kodomo a non profit organization in Playa del Carmen that helps autistic children have special education for free. They receive plastic lids as donations from the public then sell them to help fund their school. Last October Empowering our Youth had convocated a contest of plastic lid collection for the same purpose. All our 8 groups (composed of 23-28 students per group) joined the contest.The win
